The 2010 calendar showcased the seasons of the year. I wanted to represent a physical being that would have dominion over their respective time of year. I called them Season heralds because they mark the start of the season. During the year as the Sun travels through the seasons, it passes through the Zodiac signs. The Zodiac signs on the corners of each Herald displays the transitional signs between seasons. For example, Autumn begins as the Sun travels from the Cancer constellation to the Libra constellation. In this moment the different Season Heralds usher in the new season with their magical touch. The feminine Spring Herald produces the life giving rain to renew the fertile land. The Summer Herald bathes the land in the bright sunlight to further the growth of life. The Autumn Herald brings forth a brisk wind to signal a time to harvest the land. Finally the Winter Herald ends the year with a cold crystalline blanket covering the barren land.
