“RELICS”
These relics from a bygone era were held by my ancestors as they plied their trade as Wrightsville’s cobblers in the mid to late 1800’s.  Examining these tools now, one wonders what past lives and experiences are locked within.  In this instance I have released a scene of my Great Great Grandfather, Henry Andrew Hammer, standing (far left) in front of his Shoe Repair Shop.  The Shop was located on Front Street between Locust and Hellam Streets in a small frame building.  The scene is taken from a photograph that unfortunately did not identify the other people in the photo or the circumstances surrounding it’s taking.  That knowledge remains locked in the relics.

This Pen and Ink original received an Award of Merit in the 43rd Annual Open Juried Exhibit at The York Art Association.
